About us
Agrohope Farms & Products Inc. was born out of a deep commitment to supporting local agriculture and fisheries in Port Alberni, British Columbia. Officially registered on June 17, 2022, our journey began with a simple yet powerful idea: to create a sustainable platform that uplifts local farmers and fishermen, ensuring that their hard work reaches consumers who value quality and community.
After acquiring our business license from the City of Port Alberni on October 17, 2023, we took our first major step by launching an online platform from our home base. This initiative quickly gained traction, allowing us to expand further. By July 2, 2024, we had leased a property at 3072 4th Avenue, Port Alberni, and received approval from the City to operate a storefront business. This new space is more than just a retail location; it is a hub for our wholesale operations, order processing, and supply chain management, all focused on regional distribution.
At Agrohope, our mission is clear: to support local farms by showcasing and selling their produce. We’ve recognized that many local farms face challenges such as retiring owners, a lack of generational succession, and labor shortages. To address these issues, we partner with farms through profit-sharing agreements, buying back their produce to sell in our physical store. This approach not only helps sustain their operations but also ensures that customers receive the freshest, locally sourced products.
Our commitment to local sourcing extends to the rich seafood offerings from Port Alberni and neighboring areas. As we continue to grow, we are laying the groundwork to expand our operations to the Lower Mainland within the next year. This will enhance accessibility for customers across British Columbia and beyond. Looking ahead, we plan to open multiple stores in strategic cities across the province, further solidifying our presence and impact.
At Agrohope Farms & Products Inc., we believe in the power of community, sustainability, and collaboration. Together, we are building a future where local farms and fisheries thrive, and where consumers can trust the quality and origin of the products they bring into their homes.
